Not only was Rekoil my #1 pick from PAX East 2013, but I was also fortunate enough to win their Sunday tournament with my four fellow teammates.

Rekoil Winners

What makes Rekoil resinate with me, is that it’s a community driven FPS that encourages modding, yet in a controlled manner. When it comes to modding in Rekoil, it’s either allowed on a server or it isn’t. There will be a plethora of servers in which you can’t utilize mods whatsoever and then an assortment of servers that allow you to use all of the mods your little (or big) heart desires. The gameplay in Rekoil truly takes me back to the CounterStrike 1.6 days. I miss that and I love that Rekoil makes me realize just how much I miss that.

Jake and I have decided (after an extended hiatus), to bring back BoomExplode.com and the BoomExplode Podcast. Rather than act as just another news source, we’re going to use BoomExplode as more of a casual blog dedicated to gaming. The posts you’ll be seeing here will consist primarily of our thoughts on recent happenings, recent games we’ve played and really, whatever else we may be thinking. Sure, you will still see the occasional standard news posting, but also expect to see some great reviews. All of which will have our own unique thoughts thrown in.

 

The BoomExplode Podcast will also make a return over the next few weeks. The format currently is myself, Jake and a guest or two each week talking gaming. Just as it was originally, the Podcast is something that will evolve with time. If you’re interested in being on a show or even contributing to the main site please feel free to drop us a line in the contact page.
